THE PRIME MINISTER of the
United Republic of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa has instructed the Central Bank of
Tanzania (BOT) to supervise the financial institutions on the part of the banks
to improve the interest in the loans they provide.
Speaking today, August 3,
2023, at the BoT pavilion immediately after visiting the pavilions of the
Eighth International Agricultural Exhibition held nationally at the John
Mwakangale grounds, in Mbeya, he said the Government continues to improve and
ask them to make more improvements on interest.
"All the banks are
in these shows where they explain how they will give you a loan to start your
agriculture, livestock and fishing activities, it's like luck has come today.
It's here and you're here, why come back when you don't have the answers that
will all be found here and every time I passed I asked their interest how are
they
"Many had an
interest rate of 20 percent, we told them they lowered it to 18 percent, they
lowered it to 17 percent, and later it became 15 percent, they came to be stuck
at 12 percent, so I am very happy to find that they have dropped to 9 percent,
and my hope is that they will drop even more," said Mr. .Endowments.
The Prime Minister said
President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has set an ambitious plan to enable young
people to farm commercially (BBT), work especially on the issue of working in
the area the young person wants.
"The young people
who joined the BBT program, who started their studies this year, are about to
graduate. The BBT area is also in livestock. You can be given an area, keep
livestock and fatten them. The biggest is access to capital," he said.
