MIDFIELDER JONAS MKUDE 'Nungunungu'
last night was doing dirty work in Yanga's midfield to give Mamelodi Sundowns
technician, Marcelo Allende, who is said to be worth 2.30 million Euros (more
than Sh6 billion), a difficult time in the quarter-final game of African
Champions League played at Mkapa Stadium.
Coach Miguel Gamondi,
it's like he surprised the fans by starting the former Simba midfielder in the
place of the injured Khalid Aucho, because no one was expecting him to start,
but he was bombarded and he went to show the experience he has is not enough
for such matches.
Mkude, who was
collaborating with Mudathir Yahya, made Yanga calm in the area while
facilitating attacks due to his quick release of the ball with short and long
passes when needed.
The midfielders of
Mamelodi led by Allende had a hard time passing through the area as they were
often seen creating their attacks through their peripheral areas which were
mostly used by their defenders, Khuliso Mudau and Divine Lunga.
Speaking about Mkude's
level, Miguel Gamondi, said, "I believed that he could do well in that
area according to the preparations we made and I had no doubt about that and in
fact I should congratulate all my players for the good work they have done, we
still have another 90 minutes."
That was the first time
for Mkude to play for 90 minutes in the African Champions League game with
Yanga, it should be remembered that the midfielder has enough experience with
the championship because when he was with Simba he played for more than three
different seasons and reached a stage like this quarter final.
