A PUBLIC UTILITY VEHICLE IS ALLEGED TO HAVE KILLED A STUDENT, CITIZENS BLOCK THE ROAD

 



A FOURTH GRADE STUDENT At Amani Voda Primary School, Hamisi Mchelewa Has Lost His Life After Being Hit By A Car With An Unidentified Public Organization Number Plate.

The Accident Happened Today Monday April 2024 In Kibindu Area In Bagamoyo District Coast Region.

 

Speaking To Mwananchi Regarding The Accident, Mbwewe Councilor, Omary Abbas Said "This Student Was Hit By A Government Car And Died On The Spot, This Is The 11th Student To Lose His Life By Being Hit By A Car In This Area Where Students Are Crossing," Said The Councilor.

He Has Claimed That After The Accident Happened, The Citizens Blocked The Road By Placing Logs And Sacks Of Charcoal, Pushing For The Construction Of Embankments Today Before Allowing Vehicles To Continue Their Journey.

 

"We Are Here With The Head Of The Police Station And The Executive Officer, We Are Trying To Ask The Citizens To Open The Road, We Are Responsible For Managing What They Want, They Have Agreed To Open It And Now The Cars Are Continuing Their Journey," Said Councilor Abbas.

 

Talking About The Time The Road Was Closed, Abbas Said That The Citizens Closed The Road For More Than Four Hours From Four In The Morning Until Four In The Afternoon, Which Caused Inconvenience To The Users Of The Road From And To The Northern Regions.

 

"The Car Is Written SU, This Belongs To The Government (Public Organization)," Said The Councilor.

 

Speaking About The Incident, The Coastal Regional Police Commander, Pius Lutumo Said They Are Already Detaining The Car For Further Investigation.

 

"It Is True That The Car Hit And Killed A Student And When The Road Safety Officer Was Investigating The Accident, The Citizens Came Out And Blocked The Road, But They Have Opened It After A Conversation And We Have Arrested The Car. We Are Continuing To Investigate It Further To Find Out Who The Owner Is," Said The Commander.
