MUSTAFA HASSANALI acclaimed Tanzanian fashion designer, cultural entrepreneur, and Founder & CEO of Swahili Fashion Week – will represent Tanzania at the upcoming BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow, taking place from August 28 to 30, 2025.
The BRICS+ Fashion Summit is one of the world’s most influential gatherings shaping the future of global fashion, uniting leaders of fashion associations, textile and manufacturing companies, policymakers, industry experts, designers, and buyers from over 60 countries.
For the past three years, the Summit has amplified the voices of emerging fashion industries from more than 90 countries, promoting cross-border collaboration and trade opportunities. With participants from Brazil, Ecuador, the UAE, Indonesia, South Africa, India, China, and beyond, it has become a hub for cultural diplomacy and creative economy exchange. Moscow’s growing role as a global fashion center makes it the perfect stage for such dialogue.
This year’s Business Program will focus on sustainability, creativity and innovation, professional education, international trade, and the shared challenges facing BRICS+ nations and the wider world.
Representing Tanzania, Mustafa Hassanali brings more than two decades of experience championing African fashion and creative industries. He is celebrated not only as a designer but also as the visionary behind Swahili Fashion Week, one of Africa’s largest fashion platform, which has positioned Tanzania as the gateway to East African fashion. Beyond fashion, Hassanali serves as Chairperson of Fashion Association of
Tanzania and a Board Member of the Tanzania Private Sector Federation (TPSF), actively driving private-sector engagement, trade, and investment and cultural exchanges.

In parallel with the Summit, Moscow Fashion Week (August 28 – September 2, 2025) will feature designers from Russia alongside brands from 10 countries, including Brazil, South Africa, China, India, and Spain. This diverse lineup reflects the rise of a new multicultural fashion community at the heart of Russia.
