THE
International Labor Organization of the United Nations, ILO, reports that the
number of people forced to work against their will has increased significantly
in recent years and reached an average of 27.6 million people per day.
According to new
statistics, among the 27.6 million people listed in 2021, are those who are in
slavery today, there are more than 3.3 million children and 22 million who are
forced to marry.
In addition, the study of
the ILO report announced on Tuesday shows that those people who are forced to
work have generated around 236 billion dollars in illegal profits per year,
which is a huge increase of 64 billion dollars since 2014.
The research has said
that the increase is due to the increase in people who are forced to work and
the correlation between high levels of injustice and extreme benefits.
Human traffickers and
criminals who exploit workers by force make about $10,000 from each victim.
The study found that the
most common form of forced labor is the illegal sex trade.
Although it represents 27
percent of all victims of forced labor, but gender oppression generates 73
percent of the total illegal profits made.
According to VOA,
approximately four out of five victims are girls and women, the United Nations
Labor Organization has said, where more than a quarter of all cases concern
children.
The ILO has reported that
an estimated 85 percent of victims of forced labor include those who work
"for private use," which includes practices such as slavery, child
labor, working to pay off debts and various forms of begging so that the income
benefits someone else. .
