NORTH KOREAN LEADER Kim
Jong Un presided over a live-fire exercise of the most powerful nuclear
missiles designed to target the South Korean capital as he vowed to increase
his war deterrence in the face of fierce confrontations with rivals, state media
reported. they said.
The report came a day
after South Korea and Japan said they had detected North Korea firing multiple
short-range missiles into waters off its east coast, adding to a series of
weapons displays that have raised regional tensions.
Experts say North Korea's
supersonic ballistic missiles bridge the gap between launch systems and
missiles because they can create their own thrust and be guided during
delivery. The North has described some of these systems, including multiple
600mm rocket launchers that were tested on Monday, as capable of delivering
nuclear warheads.
