PIG KIDNEY PROVIDES RELIEF TO A 62-YEAR-OLD OLD MAN

THE 62-YEAR-OLD Is Said To Be On The Mend And Due To Leave Hospital Soon, After Receiving A New Kidney From A Pig That Was Genetically Modified To Reduce The Risk Of Organ Rejection.

American Surgeons Say Rick Slayman Is A "Real Hero" For Being The First To Try The Operation. The Ultimate Goal Is To Use Animal Organs For Further Transplantation.

In The Past, Pig Kidneys Were Implanted Into The Brains Of Dead People For Experiments. The Four-Hour Operation, Which Took Place On March 16, "Marks A Major Step Forward In The Quest To Make Organs More Readily Available To Patients", Massachusetts General Hospital Said In A Statement.

Mr Slayman Underwent A Human Kidney Transplant At The Same Hospital In 2018 After Being In Treatment For Seven Years Because His Own Kidneys Were Not Working Properly.
