CHELSEA COACH Mauricio Pochettino said he hoped a superb performance in Thursday's 4-3 win over Manchester United would bring about a change in the Blues' volatile season and sometimes strained relationship with fans.
Pochettino ran onto the field at the final whistle after hat-trick hero Cole Palmer scored a last-gasp Premier League winner after 11 minutes of added time, equalizing seconds earlier with a penalty.
"It is important in the end to finish the way we did, and create I think a relationship (between) the fans and the players," the Argentine coach told reporters.
"It's a very good thing that happened today and I think it should be a turning point for us, to build confidence in the fans and in the team," he said.
A few weeks ago, Pochettino - the former manager of Chelsea's rivals Tottenham Hotspur - was booed by some fans during a tense Brentford clash and on Saturday the tension flared again after a 2-2 draw at home to 10-man Burnley.
However,
when asked after Thursday's late win about complaints from some fans that he
was not showing enough emotion to connect with them, the 52-year-old Pochettino
said he was focused on doing his job in the game and not complaining.
