The Tanzania Standards
Agency (TBS) has said that the food aid (including rice with added nutrients)
provided by the United States Department of Agriculture in collaboration with
the Institute of International Communities in some schools in the Dodoma Region
followed the procedures for replacing food in the country where it arrived.

"Recently, there has
been information circulating on social media related to food aid (fortified
rice), fortified sunflower cooking oil and beans, which was provided by the
United States Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Institute of
International Communities (Global communities) in some schools in Dodoma Region
under the program called "Pamoja Tuwalishe".
"TBS would like to inform the public that the food followed the procedures of food fortification in the country where it was inspected and tested in the laboratory and confirmed to be safe for use, moreover the process of adding nutrients to the food (food fortification) is professionally accepted and is done with the aim of improving nutritional status of consumers”

to fully manage the responsibility to ensure that the food entering the country
meets the safety and quality criteria in accordance with the requirements of
the standards in order to continue to protect the health of consumers, TBS
